SG Gives portal raises success bar to a higher level
Web Synergies (S) Pte Ltd is proud to present its second delivery to NVPC – SG Gives portal (www.sggives.org). SG Gives, run by NVPC is an online portal that allows donors to donate online to charities/causes of their choice.
The new portal has helped raise S$500k in the past 3 months [The Straits Times, Tuesday, June 1, 2010]. With its comprehensive features, the portal has successfully played the role of being a facilitator for both charities as well as potential donors to meet, thereby offering both a flexible and convenient donation system.
Listed charities/causes range from the public to non-profit organisations across sectors such as the arts, community and youth, education, environment, health, social service and sports. While the previous portal merely served as a basic payment gateway, the new portal made donation easier by facilitating users to make quick, informed decisions, via ‘informed giving’ – allowing donors quick access to information on their preferred charities/causes (e.g. programmes offered & beneficiaries).
Amongst SG Give’s satisfied customers is O’Joy Care Services – a leading organisation in the field of psychosocial care to enhance the well-being of older persons and their families. Usage of the site has led to a surge in donations. This has been mainly attributed to the SG Give site seeing better publicity and having better outreach.

| About SG Gives: |
SG Gives, or Singapore Gives, is an online donation portal for donors who seek to give to Singapore-registered charities. Unlike fundraising through flag days, gala dinners or charity auctions, SG Gives allows donations to be made day and night, all week, all year round.
SG Gives is an initiative of the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre. SG Gives replaces NCSS’ Online Donation Portal (OLDP), which was launched in 2002.
Goals
SG Gives aims to facilitate the improvement in quality and quantity of giving through a low-cost, high reach tool for charities to raise funds.
a. |
Information: increase informed giving. At a time and place of their choice, the public can find out about causes and charities. Donors who are interested can look at information in one portal before deciding who to donate to. |
b. |
Engagement: increase donor engagement through basic information already at the fingertips, and easy access to charities listed. |
c. |
Transaction: increase donation amounts with more people being reached, informed and engaged on an on-going basis. |
